Stephen Amell

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Stephen Amell was supporting himself as a spinning instructor while pursuing acting when, in a enjoyable bit of serendipity, he made his screen debut with a recurring role as a spinning instructor on "Queer as Folk" (Showtime, 2000-05). After a bit part on "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (CTV, 2001-09; MuchMusic, 2010-15), he booked a guest spot on "1-800-Missing" (Lifetime, 2003-06) and a larger recurring role on "Beautiful People" (ABC Family, 2005-06). He was cast on the supernatural gay soap opera "Dante's Cove" (here!, 2005-07) as the ostensibly direct, inevitably gay Adam, but left the show after one season amid a minor controversy; he claimed he had booked other roles that conflicted with the "Dante's" taping, while others said that he (or his girlfriend) balked at Amell enacting onscreen gay romance scenes. In later interviews, Amell would avow that it was the former, and that he remained great friends with the show's other actors.Nevertheless, he went on to win a Gemini Award for his recurring role on the science fiction thriller "ReGenesis" (The Movie Network, 2004-08) and booked a supporting turn as a young soldier in the Worl

Chelsea Handler should not just presume that a hunky straight actor minds being hit on my gay men.

Stephen Amell, star of The CW’s Arrow, taught Chelsea that lesson last overnight when she oddly said: ‘I just want to clarify that you are straight and people should not slap on you if they’re men.’

Replied Stephen: ‘People can knock on me if they want to.’

The audience cheered.

Stephen talked about playing a gay spin instructor on the Showtime series Queer As Folk and about being on the first season of Dante’s Cove on HERE TV which I was completely hooked on at the time.

Of Dante’s Cove he said: ‘I was the villain because I was the linear character. I couldn’t do the demonstrate the second season and in the second season my character went from not gay to really, really, really gay.’

I remember there was a small bit of controversy over Stephen not returning with it being floated that he was uncomfortable with the personality being gay.

If only every gay person struggling with their sexuality had a friend like StephenAmell.

I sat down with the actor earlier today while he was promoting his new movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (in theaters June 3) and asked him about his former Arrow co-star Colton Haynes coming out as gay in a magazine article just two weeks ago.

"I'm so happy for Colton," Amell said. "A fan three or four months ago at a Comic-Con convention basically tried to bait me into outing him. I got in stroke with [Colton] and was enjoy, 'Hey, man, this happened [and] I didn't know what to say. I simply deflected and we moved on.'...He emailed me back and said, 'You realize, I really appreciate that and I've recently made some decisions over the past few months and I'm excited about what's in the future.' I'm delighted for him, too."

Haynes, 27, confirmed his sexuality in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He also revealed that he check

Oliver Queen becoming mayor to help Star Capital is from Judd Winick's 2003-2008 run on the "Green Arrow" series.

Also, Verdant Arrow was created in 1941 as just a Batman clone with arrows and continued to be that, with Arrowcaves and Arrowmobiles and the love, for 28 more years until his 1969 reimagining. From 1970 to 1985, Oliver griped about Republican "fat cats" and "The Man", but in 1986, Mike Grell turned Lush Arrow into a grim vigilante, much more in line with Grell's hold very Conservative beliefs.

This was in the height of the Regan Era and this characterization was a big hit but it kept Oliver isolated from the rest of the heroes in the DC Universe. After Grell left in 1993, Oliver limped around a few more years until he was killed off in 1995 and replaced by his previously-unknown son.

Hal Jordan brought Oliver back to experience in 2001 and journalist Kevin Smith brought assist a lot of the SLW-ness along with a new salacious and sexy attitude. Brad Melter followed Smith and concentrated on Oliver's ties to the rest of the DC Universe. Judd Winick settled in in 2003 for a five-year run which had a very Liberal Mayor Queen officiating at gay weddings!
