There'ssomethingoddly intimate about a person's exercise playlist. If you're enjoy me and listento the same songs every day for 30 minutes to an hour of sweating, the playlist takes on its own life. Memories of pushing, sweating, and endorphins obtain laid on superior of each route like delicious frosting. But these are popular singers, so you may favor the music, but you rarely contain a personal connection to the performers.
So imagine my surprise when I realized that several of my cherished workout songs are sung by a woman I first met at a meeting to schedule a trans awareness action. At first I was disbelieving. I knew that their names are the same, but I told myself that the Sia who sings "Titanium" and the Sia I first met on that grassy hillside must be different people. My daughter finally convinced me that they are one and the same.
My most pronounced reaction was incredulity: She supports us! I already respected her for taking a direction role in such a beautiful and strong visibility activity, but now, knowing the pressures of the heady professional world she travels in only increased my respect tenfold.

Sia gives Eminem collaboration money to LGBT charity
Australian singer Sia will donate proceeds from her recent collaboration with Eminem, a track called Beautiful Pain, external, to the LA Gay & Female homosexual Center.
She recorded the duet for the rapper's brand-new album, which features a series of homophobic slurs on the song Rap God.
Sia, who identifies herself as "queer", said she was "anxious" after hearing the track.
She eventually decided to give her fee to homeless LGBT youths after blogger Keo Nozari confronted her on Twitter.
He criticised Eminem's "hate speech" as "wholly insensitive to human rights".
Nozari, who later wrote about their Twitter discussion in a Huffington Post blog, external, cited Rap God's offensive lyrics - including the line "you fags ponder it's all a game" - and referenced recent incidents of bullying and suicide, before asking "How is this good for LGBT kids?"
Sia, who had a UK number one last year as the vocalist on David Guetta's Titanium, initially defended Eminem.

Queer singer/songwriter Sia has been messing with her appearance on her album covers for years. It didn’t just begin with 2014’s 1000 Forms of Fear or either version of 2016’s This Is Acting. (2010’s We Are Born had her face peppered with colored dots and colorful pipe cleaners were woven into her hair, making her look like a hipster Medusa.) All of this visual creativity can be traced back to her third album, 2008’s Some People Have Real Problems (Monkey Puzzle/Concord), newly reissued in its first-ever vinyl pressing. On the cover, Sia is grasping a trio of Magic Markers with which she has drawn a heart and lines on her deal with. As for what’s contained inside, the songs on Some People Have True Problems marked something of a turning point for Sia. Sounding more confident than ever, in total control of her forceful instrument, Sia belts out original numbers such as “The Girl You Disoriented to Cocaine,” “Day Too Soon,” a cover of The Kinks’ “I Depart to Sleep,” and the CD hidden track “Buttons” (included on the LP).
