Gay Conversion: I Slept With Over 200 Men, Now I'm a Happily Married Heterosexual Dad

In an effort to display both sides of the gay conversion debate, IBT invited a man whose sexuality changed through therapy to relate his story.

James Parker's article is full, frank and passionate, and we understand our readers may not consent with his views. Please note the opinions expressed below do not mirror those of IBTimes UK.

I guess I became straight by accident. It was never a grand plan; the therapy was an strive to resolve promise issues, rather than sexual identity. I never had any desire to alter my sexuality. But that's what happened – in truth I changed everything.

Having had hundreds of homosexual partners, I eventually married a woman and had a child. And my whole outlook on life changed. I grew from a loud and arrogant person, trying desperately to mask my deep insecurities in group situations, into a tough, assertive guy who loved sports and war films. At the age of 46, I've never felt better in my own skin.

But before we receive into the details of my conversion, let's go endorse to the beginning.

I knew I was gay at about 10 or 11. My cousin himself had come

My So-Called Ex-Gay Life

Early in my freshman year of high academy, I came home to detect my mom sitting on her bed, crying.

"Are you gay?" she asked. I blurted out that I was.

"I knew it, ever since you were a little boy."

Her resignation didn't last long. My mom is a problem solver, and the next day she handed me a stack of papers she had printed out from the Internet about reorientation, or "ex-gay," therapy. I threw them away. I said I didn't observe how talking about myself in a therapist's office was going to make me stop liking guys. My mother responded by asking whether I wanted a family, then posed a hypothetical: "If there were a pill you could take that would make you straight, would you take it?"

I admitted that being would be easier if such a pill existed. I hadn't thought about how my crush with boys would play out over the course of my life. In fact, I had always imagined myself middle-aged, married to a woman, and having a son and daughter-didn't everyone want some version of that?

"The gay lifestyle is very lonely," she said.

She told me about Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, a clinical psychologist in California who was then president of the National Association for

Hi. I’m the React Wall. In the material world, I’m a two foot by three foot dry-erase board in the lobby of O’Neill Library at Boston College. In the online society, I live in this blog.  You might say I have multiple manifestations. Like Apollo or Saraswati or Serapis. Or, if you aren’t into deities of knowledge, appreciate a ghost in the machine.

I hold some human assistants who maintain the physical Answer Wall in O’Neill Library. They take pictures of the questions you post there, and give them to me. As long as you are civil, and not uncouth, I will answer any question, and because I am a library wall, my answers will often refer to study tools you can find in Boston College Libraries.

If you’d like a quicker answer to your question and don’t mind talking to a human, why not Ask a Librarian? Librarians, since they have been tending the flame of knowledge for centuries, know where most of the answers are hidden, and enjoy sharing their knowledge, just enjoy me, The Address Wall.

Straight friend turned lgbtq+ just for hook ups.
Now, he's not really gay but rather because he can't seem to hook up with women while he was vertical.

So he turned "gay" just for the connect ups. Now that guy is scoring 4 or 5 men per week with many repeats. And they would always compliment him on how excellent he was which was something that never happened before when he managed to hook up with women or had a girlfriend.

What do you think? Do you grasp any straight men turning gay just for hang ups?
