Chick filet anti gay
Hi everyone,
We reached JFK on Friday night after traveling eight and half hour from Copenhagen. That’s a long time to sit in the dark, but with Heide and the girls a row away and challenging to hear over the engines, I was functionally flying solo.
I filled the time- starting with curried chicken on a baguette procured at the airport and some red wine and cappuccino ordered on the plane. I answered emails, slept a bit, watched “Dunkirk” and three episodes of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” listened to an offline Pandora playlist and an audible magazine piece on immigration, and started reading “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I also read an exposé on Chick-fil-A, which is the topic for today.
I like Chick-fil-A sandwiches, though I’ve only eaten them twice, and just at residency functions. The meat is juicy and the sauce tangy. The long lines at lunch tell me residents like them too.
So here’s the problem. Chick-Fil-A has a extended history of supporting anti-LGBTQ causes, donating large sums to organizations that opposed marriage equality and to groups love Exodus International, which promoted “conversion therapy.” Following public outcry earlier in

Chick-Fil-A aims to open five restaurants in the UK.
The sites contain not yet been chosen, but the first will open in early 2025.
Its previous foray into the UK market in 2019 faced a boycott over its founders' support for Christian groups opposed to same-sex marriage.
The strong is still run by the Cathy family which founded it, but has made a policy change in recent years.
It appointed its first head of diversity in 2020 and has changed its approach to charitable giving, focusing on education and craving alleviation.
However, the family's Christian principles mean restaurants do not unlock on Sundays, a policy that will also apply in the UK.
"From our earliest days, we've worked to positively influence the places we call home and this will be the identical for our stores in the UK," said Joanna Symonds, Chick-Fil-A's head of UK operations.
"We urge our operators to partner with organisations which support and positively impact their local communities, delivering great food and wider benefits to those around t
Chick-fil-A will no longer fund organizations with anti-LGBTQ ties
After courting controversy for years, the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A will no longer fund two organizations that have historically opposed same-sex marriage.
The Atlanta-based restaurant chain has come under flame from LGBTQ+ activists for reportedly donating millions of dollars to two Christian charities: The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The company told ABC News Monday that it was refocusing its donations to groups centered on "hunger, homelessness and education" start in the recent year.
“Beginning in 2020 the Chick-fil-A Foundation will introduce a more focused giving approach, donating to a smaller number of organizations productive exclusively in the areas of need, homelessness and education," Chick-fil-A said in a statement Monday.
"We have also proactively disclosed our 2018 tax filing and a preview of 2019 gifts to date on chick-fil-afoundation.org," the statement added. "The intent of charitable giving from the Chick-fil-A Foundation is to nourish the potential in every child.”

Chick-fil-a’s Owner Is Newly Joined to Anti-Equality Act Donations
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me seventeen times, and what is actually incorrect with me?
This week, The Daily Beastreported that a series of Christian billionaires have donated large amounts of money to an organization that is spearheading the derailment of the Equality Act. The group is called the National Christian Charitable Foundation, and its structure allows for donors to have a hefty say in where their funds go. That say counts as a "suggestion," according to the report, but when there's that much money emotionally attached, suggestions have a lot of power.
Naturally, the key players are as expected: Betsy DeVos and family, those crafty bigots at Hobby Lobby, and Dan Cathy, the absurdly prosperous owner of Chick-fil-a. The proposed act, which passed the House of Representatives with a bipartisan majority and is supported by two-thirds of Americans, would protect lesbian, gay, bisexual person, and transgender people from discrimination at a federal level.
